Kids
for Tigers works seamlessly with schools.
School time is precious and both teachers and children are over-burdened
by academic matters. The 'Kids for Tigers' programme has been therefore
designed to minimise interference with your regular school timetable.
The programme values teachers' time. No extra time pressure or after-hours
work.
Your school has the option to participate in a basic programme,
or a more involved one. Both will be meaningful, but the second
option will include the use of prepared lesson plans, to integrate
classroom activities (one period per class per month, outside of
examination and annual holidays) with external 'Kids for Tigers'
activities in your city.
Each school will need to nominate one teacher as its Kids for Tigers
Point Teacher. We will help the Point Teacher.
Kids for Tigers notice boards are set up in each school and are
managed by the students and the Point Teacher.
A specially designed Kids for Tigers Teachers' Booklet serves as
a guide and primer for nature and environment education.
Sanctuary will provide resources required for the programme. Your
school is not expected to bear any costs, nor are any funds to be
collected.
Activities Within Schools
KFT representatives will visit schools at least five times through
the year. Each visit will be meaningful and well thought out.
The focus will be on:
-
Knowledge through lessons and as 'edutainment' through games,
quizzes, skits, website and creative activities.
-
Projects to be carried out independently to 'think globally,
act locally' and incorporate knowledge gained from lessons.
-
Experiences with tiger conservation in the wild for a few
selected 'Tiger Cub Club' members.
