Save the Tiger Petition 2005
In 2001-02, children from 650 schools across India were asked to
collect Save the Tiger signatures for Kids for Tigers. A total of
10 million signatures were collected after the kids told family,
friends and neighbours a simple story: "We cannot save the tiger
without saving its forests. If we save its forests we automatically
save India's purest sources of fresh water. And by doing this we
save ourselves." These petition sheets were handed over to the Prime
Minister of India.
In 2002-03, four regional Save the Tiger petition campaigns were
held in the course of the year involving 700 schools from around
the country. Signatures collected were handed over to the respective
Chief Ministers, MLAs and MPs in India.

support from neighbours and friends. Please feel free to use photocopies.
Children should explain the rationale: To save the tiger, the forest
must be saved
this saves our rivers
which means we save
OURSELVES.
When you have gathered all the support you can, take your petition
sheet to your Kids for Tigers Point Teacher. Don't forget to fill
in your name, class, school and city at the end of the second page.
Each child who collects 1,000 signatures or more will get a free
subscription to Sanctuary Cub for an entire year. And here's
more! You could be one of the two kids, selected to go along with
your parents to visit one of India's Tiger Reserves. Your support
is all the tiger asks
of you...
We want our National animal safe.
We support Project Tiger!
This petition is a message to the Prime Minster, asking for his
support to ensure that our national animal, the tiger be safe from
all trouble and the recent news of tigers that have been killed
in various parts of the country is indeed very sad.
